Also known as an idler arm, it maintains tension on the dryer drive belt as it wraps around the drum. If your dryer isn't spinning properly and is noisy, the pulley assembly might need replacement. To replace the dryer pulley assembly, first unplug the dryer. Remove the lint screen from the top. Unscrew the two Phillips screws near the lint screen opening. Release the clips holding the top cover down and lift it upright. Disconnect the wire harness to the switch. Remove the screws on the front panel and set it aside. Lift the drum to locate the pulley assembly underneath. Remove the belt from the motor pulley to take out the old assembly. Install the new pulley assembly in the same position, ensuring correct alignment. Rotate the drum to check for smooth movement. Finally, reassemble the panels.
