It functions as the gearbox in the motor, enabling the machine to operate at varying speeds and intensities. Remove the upper control panel by pulling forward on the bottom of the console and detaching the two retaining clips and the harness connector to the lid switch. Use a flathead screwdriver to remove the clips. Next, remove the entire cabinet from the back panel to access the washer's interior. Take out the 7/16 bolt from the agitator and lift it off the shaft. Access the motor and pump, then release the screws and tabs that hold them in place. Disconnect the wire harness from the transmission, remove the bolts securing the motor mount, and pull out the old transmission.
