Replace this filter every six months to maintain optimal performance. It is designed for use with water softeners and is compatible with GE products, including Hotpoint, General Electric, and Sears-Kenmore. This whole house carbon filter reduces contaminants in water from pumps, such as odors, rust, sediment, and sand. These impurities can alter the taste of drinking water and affect beverages like coffee and tea, as well as foods cooked with water. Areas with high sulfur or iron levels may also experience water odor.

The manufacturer recommends replacing the filter every 30,000 gallons or three months, whichever comes first. It works with in-line water filters that supply water to the entire house and is often used alongside water softeners. If you notice changes in water taste or smell before the three-month mark, consider replacing the filter sooner. Poor water quality may necessitate more frequent changes, indicated by the taste and smell of water, food, and beverages.
