Refrigerator Defrost Heater Assembly
This GE refrigerator defrost heater assembly is compatible with brands like Hotpoint, General Electric, and Sears-Kenmore. It plays a crucial role in defrosting the freezer compartment. If your refrigerator struggles to defrost or makes loud noises when the defrost heater activates, it may be time to replace this part. A malfunctioning defrost heater can lead to increased ice buildup, which might damage other components. Address this issue promptly.
To begin the repair, unplug the refrigerator. Remove all shelves from the freezer and take out the freezer light shield. Unthread the two screws securing the rear freezer panel and detach the clip to remove the panel. The defrost heater, located near the bottom of the freezer, should now be accessible. Unthread the screws holding it in place and disconnect it from its wiring. Install the new heater assembly by reversing these steps.
This is a genuine OEM replacement product sourced directly from GE. Note that this heater assembly is sold individually and does not include other parts.
