This safety component ensures the dryer operates only when the door is securely closed and latched. The switch measures 2 inches in length and 1/2 inch in width.

Symptoms of a malfunctioning interlock switch include:

- Dryer not starting or operating with the door open
- Timer display not lighting up when the start button is pressed
- Inability to open the dryer door during operation
- Dryer stopping mid-cycle before clothes are fully dried
