Its primary function is to monitor the igniter's temperature to confirm it reaches the necessary heat level to ignite the gas burner. The sensor is made up of a metal rod with a ceramic tip and is integrated into an electrical circuit. During operation, it senses the heat emitted by the burner and sends a signal to the dryer's control board. This signal activates the gas valve, which in turn lights the burner.
