For electric dryers, if the timer progresses during the timed dry cycle but not in the automatic moisture sensing cycle, take these steps: Disconnect the dryer power and use a multimeter to test the continuity through the resistor. The resistor is connected to the timer via the orange wire. If you find infinite resistance, replace resistor part number 279872. Should the timer still not proceed in the moisture sensing cycle after replacing the resistor, consider replacing the timer with WP3396047.
